| Design:
The heart of Hewland Engineering is the design office, where our open minded attitude, coupled with immense experience, provides the key to the new transmission solution that each client requires. Specialised layout analysis software aids designers in researching all concepts at speed. We are also practised in combining existing componentry into new packages where applicable. The first floor design department, like administration and shop floor production departments, is formatted in its own open plan area, albeit entered via swipe card admission only, and it features a private meeting room. Design is by 3D CAD modeling and 2D CAD drafting. The entire design team is dedicated to the product being as correct as possible for the customer, the car, the team and the driver. Close links with the product at the circuit is normal, whether it be locally at Silverstone or at Suzuka in Japan. Management of Manufacture: A large, open plan office looks out on to the 21,000 square foot machine shop. This houses the team that oversees shop floor administration and production control. Programming staff utilise direct numerical control (DNC) links to the machines. Fast lead times, with high quality are the norm. |
